Family Visa UAE

A Family Visa in the UAE allows expatriates who reside in the country to sponsor their immediate family members, such as their spouse, children, and in some cases, parents. The process and requirements for obtaining a family visa depend on the sponsor’s salary, job status, and accommodation arrangements. Here’s an overview:

Visa Application Process

1. Visa Application Process
  • Step 1: Entry Permit: The sponsor first applies for an entry permit for the family member, which allows them to enter the UAE.
  • Step 2: Medical Examination: After arriving in the UAE, adult family members must undergo a medical examination as part of the visa process.
  • Step 3: Emirates ID and Residency Visa: Once the medical exam is passed, the family member can apply for an Emirates ID card and receive their residency visa. This visa is usually valid for 1 to 3 years and can be renewed as long as the sponsor maintains eligibility.
2. Required Documents
  • For Spouse and Children:
    • Copy of the sponsor’s passport and residency visa
    • Passport copies of family members
    • Marriage certificate (attested by the UAE Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
    • Birth certificates of children (attested)
    • Lease agreement (if accommodation is not provided by the employer)
    • Salary certificate from the employer
    • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • For Parents:
    • Proof of income
    • Attested documents showing the sponsor’s relationship with the parents (e.g., birth certificate)
    • Proof that no one else can care for the parents
    • Medical insurance for parents

      3. Visa Validity and Renewal
      • The family visa is usually valid for 1 to 3 years and must be renewed before it expires. The renewal process is similar to the initial application process, including updating documents and paying the necessary fees.
      4. Important Considerations
      • Grace Period: If a sponsor loses their job or leaves the UAE, their family members’ visas will typically be canceled, and they must leave the country within a grace period (usually 30 days) or apply for a new visa.
      • Dependence on Sponsor: The validity of the family visa is directly tied to the sponsor’s residency status. If the sponsor’s visa is canceled, the family visas must be canceled or transferred.

A family visa allows expatriates to bring their loved ones to the UAE and live together. It offers long-term residency options as long as the sponsor meets the eligibility criteria and maintains their visa status.
